How to Rid Fleas From Cats With Lemon

Fleas are one of the most persistent and ubiquitous pests to afflict pets (and their owners), and the variety of treatments to eliminate them is almost as numerous as they are. Many of these treatments utilize harsh chemicals (essentially pesticides) to kill fleas, but they cannot be used very often or you'll poison your pet; moreover, they may not be effective over time if your pet picks up fleas again. Cats have more sensitive skin than dogs, so these remedies are more dangerous for them. Luckily, a homemade solution containing lemon oil can be just as effective, and can be used multiple times without fear of chemical exposure.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut a lemon into thin slices, leaving the peel on.

    • 2

Place the lemon in a pan, and pour a cup of boiling water over it.

    • 3

Cut little slit around the outsides of the lemon slices, and let them sit overnight.

    • 4

Dilute the lemon water by adding another cup of water, and then bathe your cat with it to kill flees instantly. You can repeat as often as necessary as long as it doesn't hurt the cat's skin.
