Spray Flea Treatment for Cats

Fleas sprays can be highly effective on felines and more cost-effective than other flea-control methods. Of course these advantages will be useless if the flea ridden cat will not consent to the spray application. Many cats loathe the feeling of liquid spraying on them.
  1. Benefits

    • Spray-on flea treatment works faster than spot treatment because it is sprayed over the cat's entire body at once. Spot treatments are placed on the neck and they take awhile to spread.

    Effectiveness

    • Some flea sprays will kill existing fleas and prevent reinfestation for more than a month

    Ingredient

    • The active ingredient in popular brands of flea spray is a powerful insecticide called fipronil.

    Dosage

    • Weigh the cat prior to flea spray application. Cats should receive one pump of spray per pound of body weight.

    Warning

    • Exercise caution when using pesticides and consult a veterinarian immediately if the cat seems to be experiencing an adverse reaction to the spray.
