Terramycin Treatment for Felines

Terramycin is an antibiotic which can be used topically in cats. Prescription by a veterinarian is required for purchase. Terramycin is a safe and effective drug for feline eye bacterial conditions.

    • Terramycin is effective for the treatment of bacterial eye infections, conjunctivitis and secondary bacterial infections and inflammations of the eye specifically in cats. It can also be used for certain oral cavity infections or infections of the respiratory tract and sinuses.

    Compound

    • Terramycin is the brand name of the generic antibiotic oxytetracycline and is available in ointment form, safe for the feline eye. It is in a general class of tetracycline drugs.

    Suggested Use

    • This ointment should be applied topically to the cat's eye two to four times a day as needed.

    How It Works

    • Terramycin suppresses protein synthesis and growth, which will inhibit the spread of the eye bacteria in the feline and eliminate it.

    Side Effects

    • Side effects include decreased appetite, stomach and intestine problems, and yellow discoloration in the teeth of young kittens. Do not use in pregnant cats.
