Homeopathic Cure for Diarrhea in Cats

Frequent and frantic trips to the litter box, strong odors, and a very uncomfortable cat are all signs of feline diarrhea. If your cat is suffering, you want to stop the suffering and stop the diarrhea as quickly as possible. There are plenty of methods to do this depending on the severity of your cat's problem. However when armed with the right information and possibly a little help from your veterinarian, feline diarrhea can be cleared up with no trouble.
  1. Fasting

    • Putting your cat on a 24-hour fast is one method for dealing with the affliction. While the fast itself only lasts 24 hours, the process as a whole takes 3 days. On the first day, do not feed your cat at all to allow its intestines time to rest. Offer water to drink, however. On the second day, begin feeding bland foods such as cooked chicken with rice. On the third day, mix 1/2 of their normal diet into the bland diet. By the fourth day, the cat should be back on its normal diet completely.

    Herb and Supplements

    • Administering essential fatty acids, probiotics, and digestive enzymes in supplement form is one way to aid in treatment of feline digestive problems. Slippery elm, in a dried form is also used in treatment of feline diarrhea. Salmon oil is an excellent way to administer essential fatty acids to your cat, and it is also good for the cat's skin and coat.

    Pumpkin

    • Pureed pumpkin is a great way to boost fiber in your cat's diet. The fiber offered by pumpkin absorbs water, which firms up a cat's stool quickly to eliminate diarrhea. Try giving your cat 1 to 2 teaspoons of canned pumpkin puree (only plain pumpkin, not pumpkin pie filling) daily until diarrhea symptoms subside. Some cats will eat pumpkin by itself, but if your cat will not, try mixing it into its food at mealtimes. This remedy is also useful for feline indigestion as well as feline constipation.
