Things You'll Need
- Radiographs
- Blood test
- Urine sample
- Fecal sample
Instructions
Observe the behavior of your cat. It is important that you know what specific symptoms your cat is showing in order to diagnose what may be wrong.
Take your cat to the veterinarian and tell him the symptoms your cat is displaying. Only a doctor can perform the diagnostic testing needed to determine what is going on with your feline.
Take radiographs and have blood drawn if your pet is limping, vomiting, losing weight, not eating, drinking more, has diarrhea or is just not acting right. The veterinarian can take a look inside your cat's body and determine what may be causing these problems. Blood test results can also be helpful in diagnosing what may be happening with your kitty.
Collect a urine sample from your cat if he is urinating inappropriately, as this could be a sign of a urinary tract infection or crystals in the urine. Your veterinarian will be able to run tests to determine if there is something abnormal with the urine, or if it is a behavioral problem. Your vet may also want to test the urine if your cat is displaying other symptoms, such as anorexia.
Obtain a fecal sample from your cat and take it to the veterinarian. The sample can be checked for parasites and other organisms that can cause harm to your cat.
