Fun Facts About the Muscular System

The muscular system is one of the largest systems in the cat. It controls all movements of the cat and without it, a cat would be unable to play, eat or even sleep.

  1. Types

    • There are three types of muscles in the cat. Each muscle is specific to certain parts of the body. These types include skeletal, smooth and cardiac muscles.

    Muscles

    • Skeletal muscles are vital for movement of the skeletal system. These muscles are controlled by the cat's thoughts. Smooth muscles and cardiac muscles move automatically without any thought or effort of the cat.

    Human Similarities

    • Cats, like humans, share many of the same muscles. For example, both cats and humans have triceps, deltoids, biceps and more.

    Weight

    • The muscles in the body account for up to half of the entire weight of the cat. This includes all types of feline muscles.

    Veins and Vessels

    • In addition to making up the organs of the body, muscles also make up the blood veins and blood vessels found throughout the cat's body.
