Clavamox Liquid Administration in Cats

Clavamox use in cats is prevalent. This is because this medication is used to treat bacterial infections, absesses, and other common health problems in felines. Most find it a useful tool, and the cats don't seem to mind it, either.

  1. Features

    • Clavamox is a mix of amoxicillin and clavulanic acid and aids in eliminating skin and soft-tissue infections, such as abscesses, wounds, cellulitis, dermatitis and urinary-tract infections (UTI). Liquid Clavamox can also be used to treat other bacterial infections, such as feline colds. This medicine is used in cats and dogs alike.

    Correct Dosage

    • The recommended dosage for cats is 6.25 mg per pound of body weight, twice a day. Do not stop administering the medicine before the recommended time period is complete; this may cause the infection to last longer and possibly worsen. In addition, Clavamox should be kept in a cool, dry area where the temperature exceeds 77 degrees F.

    How to Administer

    • Administer liquid Clavamox orally by using a syringe. This is the norm, but administration can vary depending on your veterinarian's advice.

    Time Frame

    • Depending on what kind of infection your friendly feline has, and your veterinarian's instructions, you may have to administer Clavamox to your cat for 5 to 14 days.

    Acquiring Clavamox

    • Liquid Clavamox can only be prescribed by a registered veterinarian, and it can usually be acquired at the vet's office.
