How to Control Your Cats Shedding

I might as well tell you right now, cats shed. And indoor cats shed all of the time. This is because we leave our lights on at night and the cats system is tricked into thinking that the seasons are always changing. But there are a few things that you can do to cut down on the shedding and make things a little more bearable for you.

Things You'll Need

  • A proper diet for your kitty
  • Vitamins
  • A good brush or comb
  • Deshedding tool
  • Cat treats
  • A little of your time

Instructions

    • 1

Feed your cat a healthy high quality cat food. When it comes to having a healthy pet you never want to skip on pet food. And feeding your pet a cheap brand of pet food can cause a lot more serious health issues than just shedding.

    • 2

Add omega 3 fatty acids to your cats diet to strengthen the coat and cut down on shedding. You can find them at most pet stores or can even purchase them from your local vet.

    • 3

Brush your cat often, it really doesn't take all that much time out of your day and most cats find brushing to be very enjoyable. But just in case keep a few cat treats close by. This will help to cut down on bad behavior.

Use a de-shedding took like the furminator when brushing. It works by removing the loose dead undercoat and you will be amazed at the difference this makes.

Remove any loose left over fur on your pets coat with a damp paper towel or pet wipe.
