Ear mites are a common parasite that affect cats and dogs, although cats are affected more often. Even though ear mites live predominantly in the ear they do sometimes migrate to the head or other parts of the body. If left untreated, cats with ear mites might suffer from a secondary infection which may damage the ear and even cause deafness. Although ear mites may be treated with over-the-counter medications it is best to see your veterinarian for proper diagnosis and treatment.
