Keeping your kitty happy is not hard to do. Cats are mostly self sufficient and will find ways to amuse themselves and keep busy without a lot of interference from you. But if you are looking for ways to keep your cat happy, think of what a cat needs for his day-to-day care and then be sure you are providing everything he needs.

Instructions
Entertain your cat with toys made for human-cat interaction. It can be hard entertaining you cat. They can become bored and lazy just like us but this is not healthy for any person or animal. So keep that cat active for just a few minutes a day. Cats need interaction with their owners to be happy. Purchase a cat toy that is a long stick with a string and ball that you whip around, or use a lazer-light pen and have him chase the little red dot around the floor. Roll a ball across the floor and watch him fetch it and bring it back to you.
Provide him with toys of his own to play with when you are not around. Catnip toys are a great way to keep cats satisfied. But cats do get bored with the same toys so the trick is to only have a few out at a time and as soon as you notice your cat is not playing with them put them away and bring out a few different toys. Rotating the toys keeps your cat interested in them. Its like they are getting new toys every week. Also, many cats will bat toys under the sofa, fridge or stove. Check these places often for lost toys.
Take your cat for a walk. If your cat is an outdoor/indoor cat then you have no need for this but for those indoor declawed cats this is great fun. Cats love the outdoors although it can be dangerous for them at times and make them more prone to health problems like worms. They still need a little bit of fresh air and an opportunity to snack on grass once in a while.
The first time you take your cat out for a walk whether it be in your yard or on the sidewalk it can be challenging. Your cat may be fearful. If this is the case, bring her outside for only a few moments, and then bring her back inside again. If given the opportunity to walk on a leash in small increments, your cat will slowly get used to the idea. You can also use a pet stroller for this purpose.
Reward your cat with treats for doing what you ask to let him know how much you love him. If your cat eats mainly hard food, soft treats or a can of soft food is a great choice for a reward. If your cat eats mostly wet food, try a hard treat mainly because a cats teeth need hard to assist them in healthy clean teeth. You can train a cat to do most anything you can train a dog to do with the proper treats and time. Make it fun for your cat.
Provide everything your cat needs for his daily care such as a litter box, clean litter, high-quality, brand-name cat food, treats, catnip, a bed or hiding spot and your time. Also, taking your cat to the vet for an annual check up and keeping her vaccinations and de-worming protocols up to date will keep your kitty happy. Keep your cat indoors so as to expand her life expectancy. Indoor cats can live 20 years or more, while outdoor cats have a much lower life expectancy, three to four years at most.
