Can you get Chlamydia disease from cats?

Chlamydia is a bacterial infection that can cause respiratory infections, sexually transmitted infections, and eye infections. It is caused by the bacteria Chlamydia trachomatis and Chlamydia pneumoniae.

Cats can carry a different type of Chlamydia called Chlamydia felis, which is specific to cats and does not cause disease in humans. Therefore, you cannot get Chlamydia disease from cats.
