Why are there no medicines to destroy a virus?

This statement is not accurate. Several antiviral drugs are available today to treat different viral infections. Antivirals work by interfering with specific viral processes such as replication or entry into the host cell. Some antiviral drugs are effective in treating flu, herpes simplex virus, HIV, hepatitis B and hepatitis C among others.
