Instructions
Measure the width of your window. Saw lumber to fit the width of the window and the length of your pet. PetSmart uses 24 inches long and 13 inches wide for its Sheepskin Window Cat Perch. The lumber can be secured by opening and then closing your window to position the lumber flush against the screen.
Screw support bars or brackets beneath your pet perch for extra support. These supports should measure about 12 inches in length. Decorative brackets will be more costly, or you may prefer to use lumber or metal --- found around your home --- to provide this support. Cover your lumber or metal pieces with your carpet or cloth fragments to enhance their appearance.
Cushion the board with foam padding. Cover the padding with blanket or carpet remnants. Add bolsters to either end of your pet perch by rolling up towels or blanket remnants for extra padding against which your pet can rest. Secure the remnants on either end with sturdy rubber bands, for example, allowing for easy, efficient cleaning or replacement.
