Things You'll Need
- 1 to 2 meters square fabric
- Scissors
- Sewing machine
- Cotton stuffing
Instructions
Cut the fabric into two equally sized squares. Use a soft fabric such as cotton or fleece. The amount of fabric you need depends on the size of the bed you're making. If you're making a cushion to fit inside a bed or box, measure its inside area and cut the fabric to these measurements. Remember to add a 1 inch seam allowance.
Place the two squares of fabric on top of each other. The finished sides should be facing inwards. Pin three of the edges.
Sew along the pinned sides, 1 inch from the edge. This will make a neat seam.
Invert the cushion so that the finished side is now on the outside.
Stuff the cushion. Don't pack it too tightly or the cushion will be hard and uncomfortable. The stuffing should fill the cushion, but be flexible under pressure. If your hand sinks easily into the cushion but feels supported, the amount of stuffing is correct.
Sew the remaining side of the cushion closed using small stitches. Trim away the excess from the seam. To make the edge look neater, add piping by using an overlock stich.
