Flap Specifications
-
The complete flap and frame measurements are 9.25 inches by 9.44 inches by 3.7 inches. The actual flap opening area is 5.7 inches square. This model of cat flap has been manufactured from tough plastic and is available in white and incorporates an anti-draft, brush-lined edge. Unlike many other cat flaps, the Cat Mate can accommodate doors up to 2.4 inches thick.
Locked to Prevent the Cat Going Out
-
This system provides the cat owner with absolute control over all eventualities. The house cat can be confined indoors if its owners are on holiday, if the animal requires medication or is being introduced to a new home. The cat also may be required to remain indoors to prevent cat fights or to keep it from roaming.
Locked to Prevent Cats Entering
-
By turning the lock on the bottom of the flap frame, the owner can change the setting of the cat flap. This flap can be locked so that wild or feral cats outside the house cannot gain entry.
Locked Either Way
-
The cat flap has two additional settings. The first allows the house cat complete access to come or go as it pleases, while still offering protection from the elements. The last setting locks the flap so that no movement is possible. After installing, the cat can be coached to use the Cat Mate cat flap by offering it a choice food item that has been placed on the other side of the flap. By raising the flap slightly, the cat soon will come to understand that it can move through.

Which Is the Best Cat Flap for Thick Doors?
Cat flaps are hinged openings that are typically set into a door to allow domestic felines free access to and from the house. The main benefit of these flaps is that your cat can come and go without requiring your assistance. The more basic designs are simply weighted flaps, but more sophisticated designs have adjustable catches to limit the opening of the flap to one direction or the other. The Cat Mate is a quality cat flap that has been manufactured to accommodate thick doors.
