How to Make Simple Cat Beds

Cats can and do sleep practically anywhere. However, having their own beds not only reduces pet hair on your furniture but also provides your cats with comfort and security. You could spend a small fortune on luxury cat beds, but your cats are unlikely to prefer these to simple cat beds made with cheap, or free, materials. You can make the simplest cat beds of all in less than 15 minutes.

Things You'll Need

  • Large cardboard boxes or large round baskets
  • Scissors
  • Old sweaters

Instructions

    • 1

Cut the sides of a cardboard box down, leaving them about a foot high so you are left with a cardboard container.

    • 2

Cut a semi-circular depression from the front of the tray to allow easy access for your cat.

    • 3

Put a cushion in the tray.

    • 4

Cover the cushion with a blanket, pushing it into the tray and tucking the edges underneath.

    • 5

Put an old sweater on top. Especially if it's not washed, this will remind the cat of you and make it feel more secure.

    • 6

Place the box wherever your cat usually sleeps.

    • 7

Repeat for any other cats you own.
