Instructions to Build a Cat Cage

Some homeowners treat their pets as a member of their family. This is why they make sure that they have a comfortable place to rest and live inside their home. While it may be fine to allow your cat to lie on your couch or carpet, you may find it difficult to clean all the fur and dirt that it leaves. The best solution to this problem is to keep your cat inside its own cage. You can build a cat cage to save you time and money, as opposed to buying a new one in stores.

Instructions

    • 1

Create two frames with your boards measuring 48 and 34 inches long. Start by placing two 48-inch boards next and parallel to each other. Keep a distance of 34 inches in between the boards.

    • 2

Set two 34-inch boards in the middle of the two boards to create a 48-by-36-inch frame. Nail these boards at their corners with 1 ½-inch nails, with the 48-inch boards into your 34-inch boards.

    • 3

Create another frame using the same procedures in step 1 and 2 to finish making the front and back part of the cage.

    • 4

Position a 1-by-1-by-28-inch board in between the two frames' corners and secure them into place with a few nails. Do the same for each corner until you complete the whole frame for the cage.

    • 5

Place the 36-by-48-inch wire over the frame and do the same at the back of the cat cage. Staple the wire in place.

    • 6

Set the ¼-inch plywood sheet measuring 36-by-30 inches at the bottom of the cat cage and secure it with 1 ½-inch nails. Nail the second piece at the top part of your cat cage.

    • 7

Place the ¼-inch plywood sheet measuring 48-by-30 inches at one of the cage's sides.

    • 8

Connect the second 48-by-30-inch plywood at the side of the cage using three 1-inch hinges to create the cage's door.

    • 9

Attach two eyehooks at the side of the door for you to latch the gate.
