Instructions
Search your local thrift store and flea markets for a wooden television stand with doors or a wooden hinged box. You can use any wooden furniture, as long as it has a hinged top or doors on it and is tall enough inside for your cat to stand in and wide enough to hold a litter box pan. You can also use hinged wicker benches.
Purchase a pet door from a pet supply store. The size of the door will depend on the size of the furniture you purchase and the size of your cat.
Use a pencil and ruler to draw a rectangle the size of your pet door on the side of your chosen furniture piece.
Use a drill to make a starting hole in the rectangle you just drew. Use a jigsaw to cut out the rectangle. Sand the edges of the hole using sandpaper.
Install your pet door according to the package directions.
Use screws and a drill to attach a plastic document tray so it hangs inside the furniture and over the spot where you plan to put the litter box. You can find document trays at office supply stores. Any style is fine as long as it has holes on the bottom.
Insert a carbon filter in the hanging document tray. This will trap odors from the litter box. You can find carbon filters at home improvement stores and pet stores.
Insert your litter box in the new litter holder. If you have space, place a litter mat in front of the box to trap litter when your cat leaves the box.
