Littermaid Plus Troubleshooting

The Littermaid Plus is an automatic self-cleaning litter box. The sensor detects when the cat leaves the box, activating the air cleaner until the rake cycle is complete. The rake pushes the waste into a sealable container immediately after use. As convenient as this unit is, however, you may still run into some problems you don't know how to solve. Try troubleshooting the issues on your own before calling customer service.
  1. Operation

    • If your Littermaid Plus is not working properly, there may be too much litter or dust on the sensors. Ensure that the litter is not above the "full line" on the tray. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe each lens cover clean of dust. If the unit will not work when you turn on the power switch, make sure the batteries are not dead or that the outlet you are using has power. You may also have a faulty AC adaptor. You can test the adaptor by installing batteries in the Littermaid Plus. If it works on the batteries, the problem must be with your adaptor.

    Light Problems

    • If the light does not come on when the Littermaid Plus is activated, chances are you have had a power outage or the batteries are dead or not installed correctly. Try turning the On/Off switch to the Off position and then back On again. If the light blinks continuously and slowly, the rake has probably encountered some sort of item it cannot eliminate. Make sure you always empty the unit when it is full and often check to ensure that the rake teeth are clean and free of debris.

    Waste Clumps

    • If waste clumps are adhering to the surface of the litter tray, you probably have a dirty litter tray surface. You will most likely need to remove the tray and clean it with mild soap. Then rinse and dry it. In the future, spray the tray with silicon spray and wipe it with a damp cloth. This precaution will help keep waste clumps from adhering to the tray.
