Dog and Cat Frontline
-
Frontline is a very popular flea and tick control substance for dogs and cats. There is a difference between the one for dogs and the one for cats.
Similarities
-
Both kill fleas and ticks and contain the same ingredients, fipronil and (IGR) (S)- methoprene. The fipronil absorbs into the cat's skin and coat so that the solution has a long term effect, and the (IGR) (S)-methoprene acts as a birth control agent for fleas so that they cannot reproduce and any flea eggs that come in contact with it will never develop into adult fleas.
The Difference
-
The difference between the two is the dosage. Frontline for dogs can have a higher dosage of these flea and tick killing agents and should not be used on cats. Cats are more sensitive to these ingredients than dogs and it may be because most are smaller than dogs in general and also bathe themselves regularly.
Young Pets
-
Frontline can be used on puppies and kittens as well as adult dogs and cats and has helped control fleas and ticks in many households because of its long lasting affects.
Keep Your Pet Safe
-
When using Frontline or any other flea and tick control substance, be sure to read the recommendations for the specific pet type and the weight of the pet recommended. If you have a cat, remember to only use Frontline for cats.
