Instructions
Fold the edges of the fleece square over two inches against the wrong side of the fabric (solid fleece normally doesn't have a "right" or "wrong" side of the fabric. If you're not working with a print fleece, simply choose which side you will consider the "wrong" side). You are forming a casing for the elastic. This is a gutter or "tunnel" for the elastic to fit through.
Pin the edges with the straight pins, leaving a 3-inch opening or gap unpinned that will not be sewn and will be the entry/exit for the elastic.
Sew, on the sewing machine, using a 1-inch seam allowance and the straight stitch function, the edges of the square along the pins, leaving open the 3-inch gap. Remove pins as you sew.
Connect a safety pin to the end of the elastic. Connect the other safety pin to the other end of the elastic AND to the fabric of the opening to the elastic casing. This will prevent you from losing the elastic within the casing as you are working.
Feed the pin/elastic through the 3-inch opening until the pin/elastic emerges from the other opening of the casing.
Pull both ends of elastic out and sew together. Hand sew the 3-inch opening of the casing closed.
Turn the fleece cover right side out and insert the foam square into the elasticized opening of the cover, pulling the elastic edges over the foam. Cover is removable for washing and drying.
