How to Dispose of Cat Waste

Cats are relatively clean and extremely independent pets that require little care. All you really need to do is fill their food and water dishes and empty their litter boxes. Cats don't like dirty litter boxes and may urinate outside the box if it isn't clean.

Instructions

  1. Using Liners

    • 1

Put on a pair of gloves. Wear gloves any time you clean your cat's litter box. Cat waste can contain diseases that will make you sick.

    • 2

Place a liner in your cat's litter box and fill the box one-quarter deep with cat litter.

    • 3

Remove the liner along with the cat litter and replace it with fresh every two or three days. Place the liner in a plastic bag and take it to your outside trash can.

    Using a Scoop

    • 4

Use a scoop made for cat litter. Scoop out all of the urine clumps and feces. Place them in a plastic bag and tie it shut.

    • 5

Take the plastic bag outside and throw it in your trash can.

    • 6

Replace the cat litter with fresh litter. Spray air freshener in the area if needed.
