Things You'll Need
- Cat litter pan
- Clumping cat litter
- Nontoxic cleaner
- Charcoal cat litter box
Instructions
Choose a clumping cat litter to put in the cat litter box. Clumping cat litter isolates the urine and feces into an easy to clean clump, which prevents odor and bacteria from contaminating the rest of the litter.
Remove clumps of urine and feces from the litter box twice a day to control odor. A dirty litter box is a smelly litter box.
Clean the litter box once a week. To clean the litter box, discard all of the litter in the box and clean the litter pan using a nontoxic cleaning solution. Vinegar or rubbing alcohol removes urine odor and kills odor-causing bacteria. Pour new cat litter into the clean litter pan.
Purchase a carbon filter litter box to further control odor. The carbon filter naturally absorbs odors. Change the carbon filter once a month to maintain optimum odor control.
