How to Fit a Cat Harness

Although many cat owners let their cats roam free, there are several good reasons why it would be important to fit a cat into a harness. For example, a cat harness can keep an unruly cat from fighting at the vet's office. Although it can seem near-impossible to harness a squirming cat, it can be done easily by following these steps.

Instructions

  1. Fitting a Cat into a Harness

    • 1

Make sure the weight range on the harness matches your cat's weight. Then adjust the straps so that the harness will fit your cat securely.

    • 2

Calm your cat so that you will be able to put on the harness easily.

    • 3

Pull the harness over your cat's head. Make sure that the silver ring is facing the cat's back.

    • 4

Pull the cat's left leg through the leg hole in the harness. Your cat will have to "step through" this section of the harness.

    • 5

Pull the other end of the harness under your cat's right elbow and up over the cat's back. Then attach it to the section of the harness near the silver ring.

    • 6

Check to ensure that the harness is not twisted.

    • 7

Attach the leash to the silver ring.
