Instructions

    • 1

Spread carpet glue on the four long sides of the 4-by-4 piece of wood you will use to make your kitten scratching post, but not on the ends. You may want to use an old paintbrush.

    • 2

Wrap the carpet remnant around the 4-by-4 covered in glue.

    • 3

Use your staple gun to secure the carpet remnant to the wood. Be sure to staple along the edges where the two sides of the carpet meet about every inch. This will help hold the carpet in place while the glue dries.

    • 4

Nail the 10-inch-by-10-inch piece of plywood onto one end of the 4-by-4 so it will stand up, allowing your kitten to scratch it without tipping over. Use several nails to prevent loosening.

    • 5

Attach the cat toy to one end of the spring and then nail the other end of the spring to the top of the kitten scratching post. This also encourages use by your kitten.
