How to Make a Harness for a Fat Cat

No, this article isn't talking about harnessing fat cats in business. It's about fat cats that look as though they've hit the food bowl too frequently, like Garfield with his lasagna. So if your cat is large, here's how to make a harness for him.

Instructions

    • 1

Buy a thin belt about ½ inch wide. Wider belts will be stiff and uncomfortable for your fat cat.

    • 2

Slice 2 inches off the notched end of the belt, not the buckle end. Sew the 2-inch piece to make a loop.

    • 3

Insert the two ends of the belt through your mini-loop so that you have a big loop on one side of the mini-loop and the two loose ends on the other.

    • 4

Put your cat's head through the big loop and adjust the loop to the size of the head. The mini-loop will be at the back of the cat's head.

    • 5

Cross the ends of the former belt, now a harness, over the cat's back and underneath.

    • 6

Buckle the harness behind the cat's front legs. When you buckle the harness, choose a hole so that the cat can't escape, but also so that it won't choke.

    • 7

Attach a leash to the mini-loop and take your fat cat for a walk.
