Things You'll Need
- Scratching posts on bases of various sizes
- Sheet
- Stapler or needle and thread
- Scissors
- Catnip (optional)
Instructions
Choose a location in your home where the cat house will be. Place the tallest scratching post in the center, and surround it with four smaller scratching posts. All posts should have sturdy bases, as your cat will use them to scratch while it is in the cat house.
Place the sheet over the scratching posts, as if it is a tent. You may choose a sheet color or pattern that matches the decor of your room, or a color or pattern you think your cat will like. Lighter sheets will let light in for a brighter house, and darker sheets will keep light out for a more restful house. Trim any excess sheet that pools on the floor, if desired.
Staple the sheet to the corner of each scratching post base, and staple the sheet to the top of each post to secure. You may also use a needle and thread to secure the sheet to the posts. This flexible house will also be able to be moved from one room to another easily, yet be sturdy enough to withstand playtime.
Cut a hole in the bottom of the sheet for an entrance and exit for your cat. Place some catnip on the scratching posts to entice your cat to enter their new house, if desired.
