Instructions

    • 1

Choose your suitcase. Cats will be able to make use of any size suitcase you wish to dedicate to the purpose. Larger ones provide more rolling-around room, but smaller ones allow for cozy snuggling.

    • 2

Remove or position the lid so the suitcase is open and inviting. To remove the lid completely, strong shears will be sufficient for cloth or canvas suitcases; for sturdier cases with metal hinges, a small hammer and chisel should work. Cut or hammer where the lid is joined to the main segment of the suitcase until the lid comes free. You may opt to keep the lid on, propping it back fully or positioning it at an angle with fabric draped over it to create a canopy bed effect.

    • 3

Take a thick blanket or other cloth and line the bottom and sides of the suitcase, so that the cloth extends and folds over the side, to soften any sharp edges.

    • 4

Fill the suitcase with bedding of your choice. This can be small pillows, towels, blankets, comforters, anything soft. For cloths or towels, bunch up the material into wads as opposed to simply laying flat layers in the suitcase. Cats like to nest, curling up in the bedding. Some cats like to cover themselves entirely.
