Instructions

Cut the 10-foot sections of Schedule 40 PVC pipe to size with a hacksaw. Cut 16 pieces 2.5 feet long. These will form the legs and all connectors for the tower. Sand the cut ends with fine sandpaper. Bevel each end lightly with a sandpaper block and fine sandpaper.

Cut half-inch plywood to size for a sleeping deck. Use a circular saw or saber saw to cut a platform measuring 33 inches by 33 inches. Remove a 2-inch by 2-inch triangle of plywood from each corner of the plywood platform, which will allow the platform to clear the corner fixtures.

Assemble the PVC sections. Glue a PVC end cap on four legs of the platform to serve as feet for the platform. Glue a four-way PVC fixture on the opposite end of each leg. Connect the four legs by gluing cross-pieces of PVC pipe into the four-way fixtures. Glue PVC pipe sections into each vertical opening of the four-way fixtures. Build the top square of the platform with three-way PVC fixtures and PVC pipe sections. Be sure that the vertical opening of all four corners is pointing downward before gluing the pipe cross-sections in place. Apply glue to the four vertical posts and install the top square.

Install the platform at the level of the four-way fixtures. Place your pet̵7;s favorite pillow on the platform. Cats love dark hiding places for sleeping. Consider sewing a hood from denim material to make the sleeping area darker. Drape a blanket over all, or part, of the structure as a simple alternative for darkness.
