- Sewing machine
Instructions
Turn your plastic tote upside down. Cut a doorway on one end of the tote that is big enough for your cat to pass through easily. Sand the edges smooth with sandpaper. Tape the edges with duct tape.
Measure the inside of the tote lid. Cut two pieces of fabric in this size. Sew the fabric pieces with right sides together using a 1/4-inch seam allowance. Leave an opening for turning. Turn and stuff with fiberfill or batting.
Cut a used rubber or plastic mat slightly larger than the doorway to serve as a door. Hold the door in place with duct tape. The door will protect your cat from inclement weather while allowing him to enter and exit the house.
Place one side of the fabric fastener strip on the cat home floor (tote lid). Place the other side of the fabric fastener strip on the newly sewn cat bed. Align the Velcro strips to keep the bed in place.
Locate an area that is out of wind, rain and other undesirable weather conditions to place the cat home. A garage or shed is an ideal location.
