How to Make an Automatic Waterer for Cats

Giving your cat fresh water daily is an important part of pet care, just like feeding it. Automatic cat water dishes are available in most pet stores but they are pricey, especially when you realize you can make yourself one with things you already have in your kitchen. Making one of these will take you less than five minutes and save time on pet care.

Things You'll Need

  • Flat-bottomed casserole dish
  • Plastic juice bottle
  • Scissors or knife

Instructions

    • 1

Place the casserole dish on the floor where you want your cat's water dish.

    • 2

Punch a small hole 1 inch from the bottom of your bottle with your scissors or knife and place it in the casserole dish.

    • 3

Fill the bottle with water while the bottle is in the dish; do this by putting water into another bottle or cup and pouring it in to the top of the juice bottle.

    • 4

Punch a small hole in the bottle cap and place it back on; this will allow air into the bottle so it can refill your dish as your cat drinks the water.
