Porcupine wire (also known as
concertina wire,
razor wire, or
barbed tape) is a type of anti-personnel barbed wire formed from a strip of metal which is cut and twisted to form sharp spikes that protrude in all directions. It is intended to deter movement by causing significant injuries if contacted, and is commonly used in military and security applications, as well as around prisons, airports and other secure facilities.
Porcupine wire is typically made from galvanized steel or stainless steel, and is available in various lengths, widths and thicknesses. It can be installed on fences, walls, or other structures, and can be used in conjunction with other security measures such as electric fences or motion detectors.
