Instructions
Connect 2 pieces of plywood together by first gluing them and then drilling in screws. If you're going to build a large cat tree, then it might be a good idea to use a paint roller to apply the glue.
Attach a lip to the outside of the base by gluing to the edge small strips of wood a 1/2-inch wider than the combined pieces of plywood. This will complete the base of the cat tree.
Start to build the cozy apartment area of the cat tree. Use a compass to make circular entrances into the cat tree. For a small cat, a 6-inch hole is sufficient.
Use a drill to start a small hole in the center. Stick the blade of your jigsaw into the hole and cut the circles. Do this to all 4 sides and the top.
Glue the sides and top together with wood glue then use a drill to screw them together with wood screws. If you prefer, you may also use a nail gun.
Carpet the base, inside, top and sides of the cat tree. Use a utility knife to cut away the carpet covering the holes. Secure the carpet using a staple gun.
Secure the cat tree to the base by turning it upside down and drilling long screws through the bottom.
