How to Attach a Rope to a Cat Scratch Pad

Without a proper outlet, cats seem to find ways to scratch expensive furniture and other objects around the house. A cat scratching pad is a good option to solve that problem, but not all cats like a traditional scratching pad wrapped in carpet. Another option is to wrap the vertical pole on the scratching pad with rope. This gives the cat a different surface to scratch, and is affordable to do on your own.

Instructions

    • 1

Apply the glue to the post, running it up and down the height of the post. Place a length of the sisal rope at the base of the cat scratching pad pole and secure the end in place using a nail and hammer.

    • 2

Tightly wrap the sisal rope up the pole, keeping the rope tightly in place with winding rows stacked one on top of the other as tightly as possible.

    • 3

Continue wrapping until you reach the top of the pole. Cut the rope to length with the scissors, then hammer a nail into the end of the rope to secure it to the pole.
