How to Put a Cat Tunnel Together

Cats are curious creatures. They are always investigating corners, closets, windows and other places that are interesting to them. They also like to hide out in tight spots to stay warm during a nap or just to hang out. A cat tunnel is one of those places where a cat could investigate and hide. Some are sold in stores and generally require no assembly but they are made of cloth and can tear easily by just the flick of a kitty claw. Putting together your own cat tunnel may provide your pet with a longer-lasting toy and save you some money.

Instructions

    • 1

      Straighten the wire hangers.

    • 2

Cut the shelves from the inside of the hanging storage unit. Leave about a 1/2 inch of fabric at the edge so that you reduce your chance of cutting a seam.

    • 3

Run one straight wire along the vertical seam of the storage unit. Insert the hanger back and forth through the holes of the mesh to secure it in place. Bend the end of the hanger back around the ends of the storage unit.

    • 4

Run another straight hanger vertically along the seam on the opposite side of the storage unit. Use the same method as you used for the first hanger.

    • 5

Adjust the fabric of the storage unit so that it is evenly spread across the length of the hangers.

    • 6

Put the cat tunnel on the ground to let your kitty give it a test run.
