Things You'll Need
- Sisal rope
- Cable spool
- Staple gun
- Carpet remnants
- Catnip
- Ribbons or strings
Instructions
Place the large cable spool where you want it. They are very heavy so the less you have to move it the better. Stand it upright on one of the large flat ends.
Staple the beginning of the sisal rope right under the top flat part of the spool. Wrap the rope around the spool so that each new wrapping is touching the one before it. Staple each layer in place. Wrap the sisal rope from top to bottom so that the whole middle post is covered.
Staple the carpet remnants to the top flat part of the spool. Cover the bottom part that is showing as well so your cat doesn't get splinters in her paws. Staple the remnants down so that your cat can't pull them up.
Staple on the strings and ribbons so that they dangle from the top of the spool. This gives your cat something to play with while he is scratching or hanging out on the bottom. The more strings and ribbons the better.
Rub catnip into the carpeted perches and on the rope so that your cat knows that's his spot to play.
