Instructions
Cut two wood beams to be 2 inches wide by 4 feet long. It doesn't matter what type of wood you use, but pinewood works well for this project. Cut the pieces using a power saw, such as a miter saw.
Cut two wood beams to be 2 inches wide by 2 feet long.
Cut two wood beams to be 2 inches wide by 1 foot long.
Cut one wood board to be 12 inches long by 12 inches wide.
Cut three wood boards to be 6 inches wide by 12 inches long.
Attach one of the 4-foot by 2-inch beams to one corner of the 12-inch by 12-inch board at a 90 degree angle. Attach the beam by drilling a 2-inch screw through the board and into the profile of the beam. The beam should be flush with the corner of the board. Repeat this step on the corner directly across from the first beam with the remaining 4-foot by 2-inch beam.
Attach one of the 1-foot by 2-inch beams to one of the remaining corners of the 12-inch by 12-inch board in the same manner in which the 4-foot by 2-inch beams were attached. Repeat this step with the remaining 1-foot by 2-inch beam onto the remaining corner of the board.
Attach one of the 2-foot by 2-inch beams to an edge of the 12-inch by 12-inch board, at the center of the edge, in the same manner in which the 4-foot by 2-inch and 1-foot by 2-inch beams were attached. Repeat this step with the remaining 2-foot by 2-inch beams.
Attach one of the 12-inch by 6-inch boards to the top of the two 4-foot by 2-inch beams so that the board bridges the gap between the two beams. To attach the board to the beam, drill a 2-inch screw from the top of the board down into the profile of the beam. Repeat this step with the remaining 12-inch by 6-inch boards on the remaining beams. Your cat will be able to climb up the beams and perch on the 12-inch by 6-inch boards.
Smooth out every surface of the kitty condo and finish it with wood stain. Allow time for the stain to dry before allowing your cat onto the kitty condo.
