What is a gosling?

A gosling is a baby goose. The term is usually applied to young geese from the time they are hatched until they fledge, or develop the ability to fly, which typically occurs at around two to three months of age. Goslings are covered in soft, fluffy down feathers when they hatch and gradually develop the adult plumage as they grow. They form close bonds with their parents and stay together as a family group during this early stage of their lives.
