- Scissors
- Anti-fraying glue
Instructions
Measure your cat's length from the base of its neck toward its tail to wherever you want the sweater to stop.
Measure the width of your cat from the chest's widest point up to the shoulders.
Measure the width of your cat's front leg at its widest point.
Fold a piece of fabric in half lengthwise. The fabric must be at least as long as the cat's length and as wide as the cat's width. If you're making a sweater out of a sock, you would not need to fold it.
Mark the cat's length along the fabric's fold. Measure down from the length line and mark the width.
Cut out the fabric to make a rectangle as long and as wide as the cat's measurements. Do not cut along the folded portion.
Turn the fabric inside out and sew the open long end with a blanket stitch, using a needle and thread. When you're finished sewing, turn the fabric right side in.
Make two armhole cuts in the fabric on opposite sides of the seam. The cuts should be as wide as the cat's leg. Treat the cut ends with an anti-fraying glue if you're using a fabric other than fleece.
Put the sweater on your cat.
