Instructions
Place the cat in the smaller room where you kept her for the first few days after arriving in your home. The cat will feel safer there.
Invite one of your friends into the room. Your friend should sit quietly on the floor and wait for the cat to come over. Do not force the meeting. Give your friend some treats to help entice the cat and as a reward for making contact.
Give your friend a string or stick to start the game. Avoid playing games with the cat that involve hands or feet or your cat will learn that biting and scratching people is acceptable.
Tell your friend to play a chase game with the cat, moving the stick or string quickly across the floor and allowing the cat to chase after it. Cats love this game, and it's a great way for them to burn off extra energy.
Add more elements to the game. Cats love to play with paper bags, balls and small toy mice. Throw some cat nip on the floor so your cat and friend can really start to have some fun. Before you know it, your cat will be loving and trusting toward your friend and you can introduce more friends.
