Sprinkle baking soda onto the carpet and leave it to settle in for 20 minutes. Baking soda will absorb the cat odors. After it has settled, take the vacuum cleaner and vacuum the carpet.

    • 2

Clean out the litter box every day to prevent cat odors from filling the air in your home. Sprinkling ½ cup of baking soda into the litter box and mixing it into the litter can absorb some of the cat odors as well as help the litter last longer.

Move cat beds to a place where your cats are unable to sit or lay down on them, and sprinkle baking soda onto the surface of each one. Allow the baking soda to settle on top of the beds for 20 minutes to absorb the odors and then vacuum the baking soda off the beds.

Wash cat beds and blankets in the washing machine in warm water with 1 cup of baking soda on a gentle cycle to cleanse and eliminate odors. Allow the beds and blankets to air dry.

Fill a large pot with water and place such herbs into it as lavender and peppermint. Turn the pot on low heat on top of the stove and allow the water to steam and heat the herbs to create a pleasant aroma throughout the home, eliminating cat odors.
