How to Use the LitterMaid Model LM500

LitterMaid produces litter boxes that require minimal owner care. LitterMaid model LM500 has sensors to detect a cat using the litter box, which sets the timer for self-cleaning. It waits for 10 minutes after the cat leaves the litter box to remove any solid waste or urine litter clump. It has mechanisms to prevent it from cleaning when the cat is inside. With LitterMaid LM500, the cat owner has no need to manually scoop up solid waste. All he has to do is remove and throw away the disposable waste receptacle.

Instructions

  1. Setup

    • 1

Place the litter box close to an electric socket, preferably where you used to put the old litter box.

    • 2

Cut the restraints on both ends of the rake, pull them out and throw them away.

    • 3

Remove the protective tapes on the cover of the waste receptacle compartment and the battery compartment. Take off the Styrofoam lying on the rake.

    • 4

Fit a disposable waste receptacle under the waste receptacle compartment cover. It should attach tightly under the five tabs on the litter box.

    • 5

Put the waste receptacle lid on the disposable waste receptacle by fitting the push tabs into the round holes.

    • 6

Remove the paper strip on the carbon filter and stick the side with the adhesive onto the diamond-shaped insert in the waste receptacle lid.

    • 7

      Close the waste receptacle compartment.

    • 8

Fill the litter box with premium clumping litter until it almost reaches the "full line."

    • 9

Plug one end of the AC adapter into the LitterMaid LM500 and the other end into an electric socket.

    • 10

Turn on the LitterMaid LM500. You will see a red light turning on at the top of the litter box and the rake tidying up the litter.

    Litter Change

    • 11

Push the two round tabs on the waste receptacle compartment cover, remove the cover, take out the waste receptacle and throw it away.

    • 12

Turn off LitterMaid LM500 and unplug the cable.

    • 13

Remove the litter tray by lifting the side latches and the side panel handles.

    • 14

      Throw away used litter.

    • 15

Dip a piece of cloth in water and use it to wipe the litter tray.

    • 16

Spray non-stick cooking spray or silicone spray on the litter tray surface to prevent waste from sticking to the litter tray. Remove excess spray by wiping it off with a dry cloth.

    • 17

Replace the litter tray in the main housing by pressing it into place until you hear a clicking sound.

    • 18

Fill the litter tray with litter and turn on LitterMaid LM500.
