Scour every room in your home for your lost pet. Checking your home thoroughly for your pet can save you a lot of time and energy, because many pets find cozy spots in the home to rest. Check under beds, closets, basements and cabinets. Call out the pets name while you are searching. Have your family members and friends help you search.
Search for your lost pet in your neighborhood. Ask your neighbors if they have seen your pet recently. Give them a description of the pet and specify any distinct physical characteristics. Walk the streets around your home calling out your pet’s name. Visit the local parks as well. Ask people that you encounter if they have seen an animal that fits your pet’s description.
Create flyers with a quality picture of your pet, and write an elaborate description as well. Include your contact information on the flyer. Add some form of incentive on the flyer, such as a cash reward for the person that returns your pet. Post the flyers on street poles and local stores that have missing pet bulletin boards. Take the flyers to local businesses, restaurants, beauty shops and any other organization willing to help. Hand the flyers out to people you encounter around your neighborhood and at local stores.
Visit local animal shelters and agencies that pickup stray animals, such as the animal control department. Go to the facilities everyday to see if your pet is there. It is crucial that you visit several animal shelters, quickly, because few shelters keep animals for more than three or four days. Check shelters within a 20- to 25-mile radius of where you live.
Place an ad in the local newspaper and surrounding areas. Ensure that the photo you submit is clear and give a through description of the animal. Many people read the newspaper merely to find owners of lost pets.
