How to Remove Cat Hair From a Couch

When you choose to bring any animal into your home, you're making a commitment to care for the animal. Some people might enjoy having a cat as a pet, for example, but one aspect of cat ownership that you might not be so keen on is the amount of cat hair in your home, particularly areas where your cat loves to sit, such as your couch. Many couches may even attract cat hair, making it seem nearly impossible to remove it all. There are some strategies that can help.

Instructions

Remove your couch cushions. You want to remove all the cat hair, not just the hair on the surface. Use your vacuum cleaner hose attachment to clean the cat hair from underneath the cushions.

    • 2

Place the brush attachment to the end of your vacuum cleaner hose and vacuum the cushions and other areas of your couch. Use the brush to gently lift the hair so it can be vacuumed up.

Use pet-hair-removing products, such as Sticky Sheets, Pet Select Magic Pet Hair Remover Sponge, or Four Paws Magic Coat Hair Remover. These products claim to be able to remove embedded cat hair from your upholstery. If there is only a small amount of embedded hair, you can use a roller lint brush, as well.

Run an air filter. Running an air filter in the same room as your couch can help remove cat hair from the room before it reaches the couch.
