Things You'll Need
- White vinegar
- Spray bottle
- Baking soda
- Vacuum
Instructions
If the cat urine is fresh, blot up as much of it as possible using paper towels. Pour equal parts distilled white vinegar and cool water into a spray bottle. Vinegar is a natural deodorizer and neutralizer.
Spray the spot liberally with the vinegar-water mixture. Vinegar has a pungent aroma, but the vinegar odor dissipates rather quickly and will naturally remove the cat urine odor.
Allow the vinegar to air-dry.
Sprinkle baking soda liberally on the carpet or upholstery where the accident occurred.
Allow the baking soda to sit on the spot for at least a few hours, but preferably overnight.
Remove the baking soda with your vacuum. Secure the upholstery attachment to your vacuum to remove the baking soda from upholstery.
Repeat the process until all traces of the odor are gone.
