Different Kinds of Small House Cats

There are several hundred types of small house cats. These cats generally weigh less than 8 pounds, unless they become obese. Small house cats are lightweight, with thin frames. Their bone structure is smaller than other breeds.

    Singapura

    • The Singapura is a small house cat. This breed of cat typically does not weigh more than 6 pounds. Their coats are brownish gray and their bone structure is petite. Singapura is an Oriental breed that has distinctive characteristics such as bold brown or black markings above their eyes and cheek bones.

    Munchkin

    • The Munchkin breed is a type of dwarf cat that has a small body and short, stubby legs. Munchkins can grow very long, but they typically do not weight more than 6 pounds. This breed originally begun as a mutation. Munchkins cannot jump up on a couch without assistance. If you want a cat that would have difficulty hopping onto tables or counters, then this might be the breed for you.

    Shookum

    • Shookum, a type of dwarf cat, is a cross between a Munchkin and LaPerm. The Shookum gets his curly coat from the LaPerm side. These cats have short legs like the Munchkin, but their back legs are slightly longer than their front legs. They have a small head and a thin frame. These cats usually weigh less than 5 pounds.
