Things You'll Need
- Vacuum cleaner
- Rubber cleaning gloves
- Sponge
- Water
- Fabric softener sheets
- Duct tape, masking tape or lint brush
Instructions
Run a vacuum cleaner over the carpeting. Use the hose attachment to suck up cat hair from furniture, drapery and pillows.
Put on a pair of rubber cleaning gloves. Run your hands quickly under the tap to get the gloves damp. Shake off the excess water. Run your gloved hand over furniture, clothing and upholstery using short, scraping strokes. Rinse off the gloves frequently to avoid reapplying the cat hair to the fabric.
Dampen a sponge with plain water to remove cat hair from chairs, couches and other upholstered items. Rub the sponge downward over the upholstery. Rinse out the sponge often.
Use a fabric softener sheet as another method for removing cat hair from fabric. Run the unused dryer sheet over the fabric to attract the hair. Discard the sheet and get a new one as each sheet becomes filled with cat hair.
Wrap a piece of duct tape or masking tape around your hand for a quick way to get cat hair off of fabric. Wrap your hand with the tape so that the sticky side is exposed. Pat the fabric with your taped hand to pick up the cat hair. Discard the tape as it becomes filled with hair and wrap a fresh piece around your hand. A lint brush will work in the same fashion, except it is rolled over the fabric.
