When introducing the two cats make sure you give your first cats a lot of attention during the entire process. This will make them feel more secure and welcoming as the first cat will realize that they will not have to compete with the new cat for your affection. It will put him more at ease and less stressed about the new changes in the household that a new cat brings.

If your introducing them in the same room a bit of growling may come from both of them at first. This is normal for the cats to do. Your original cat may feel somewhat awkward that the new cat is in his territory. Try playing with them both at the same time at first. Your first cat will watch your reaction to the new cat to see if its alright that the new cat is there.
