One sure way to entertain most any cat is by shining a pen light on the floor. When the light moves the cat will chase it. If you have an overweight cat this may be something to look into because cats will get plenty of exercise chasing the light. You can make them run, jump and even chase themselves.

An activity that some cats enjoy is playing corners. The cat will sit on one side of a corner wall and a person will get on the other. This works well at hallway entrances. The cat will peek around the corner looking for the person. They love to stalk so this is great fun for the cat. Once they know the person is close they will pounce and grab them.

If you have a window with a ledge or a table in front of it, your cat can be entertained for hours at a time watching birds and other animals. This is cheap entertainment that doesn’t require any effort on your part. If you want to make it even more fun for the cat you could install a bird house in front of the window.

Cats love to box. They will stand up on their back legs/butt area and swat at you. You just have to poke at them quickly to avoid accidental claw injuries. It’s very cute seeing your cat standing up like this boxing with someone!

Finally, just wrestling is fun for some cats. Get down in the floor with them and roll around rubbing their belly. They will be trying to grab your hand and most likely be kicking with their back feet. When you see their ears perk up you know you have their full attention. Then they are likely to follow you around the room attacking your feet and ankles trying to keep the play going.
