Lift up your kitten's tail to look for the reproductive opening, which is located close to the anus. To view the genitals clearly, you may need to gently press down on either side of the opening with your thumb and forefinger.
Step 2: Identify the reproductive organs.
Male: If the kitten is male, you will see a small, round opening surrounded by a raised area. This is the penis, at 7 weeks it will be small but noticeable.
Female: If the kitten is female, you will see a vertical slit. The area of a female kitten's vulva is usually not as raised as the penis of a male kitten.
